Sage recently had his song “ Fat Cat” nominated for Best Performance of an Original Instrumental at the 2026 New Mexico Music Awards! That song will appear on Sage’s Upcoming Blues Album to be released later this year. The album promises to be a'“Game Changer”for Sage but more importantly addresses the long held myth that Sage isn’t a true BLUES player, simply because in fact there isn’t a lot of RECORDED evidence that he does “Blues” The fact is, he has ALWAYS played the blues, and has an extensive history and knowledge of MANY different styles of blues, but took the path less travelled, 50 years ago to explore different genres and cultures and plays everything and anything that strikes his fancy- which it turns out is a LOT, and outside the BluesBox. But Sage has also ‘LIVED “ the blues in life as much as being a student of the genre. 40 years on the road will educate a person no matter what they play, if they so desire to play for their LIVING, which Sage has steadfastly done since about 1978 when he first hit the road.
This album, which is yet untitled, definitely will turn some heads, because these are ORIGINAL blues tunes that also incorporate his trademark Jazz influences in the chord structure while remaining fun and accessible to lovers of MUSIC. Stay tuned for forthcoming announcements.
